ABOUT: 

As the Latin name shows, Motherwort is called “Lion-hearted” and is beneficial for all things relating to the heart. It was traditionally used to help regulate high blood pressure and calm a racing heart. It can be used to help treat cardiac disorders, lower high blood pressure, regulate heart palpitations, and calm the body. 

If menstruation is delayed (without pregnancy), motherwort can be used to encourage the uterus to relax and stimulate it to begin moving blood down and out. It can be used to ease the pain of cramps, and any headaches or mood swings that might accompany your period. 

Motherwort is a postpartum must-have for mamas (grab 2 bottles!). It can assist with allowing the uterus to bleed and prevent uterine infection and can help an emotional mama feel more lion-hearted when emotions can seem all over the place. It can often be described as a warm hug from a mother when needed most. It can help ease the pain of afterbirth cramping, while the honey from the elixir can give extra minerals to the mama. 

As a nervine, motherwort works to calm the body and help relieve stress and nervous restlessness. It can be used to calm an over-anxious heart and shift any emotions of feeling “stuck”.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: 

Due to its ability to encourage the uterus to bleed, it might be avoided by pregnant women until the postpartum period.
