Ember and Spice - Digestive Bitters
Previously called Autumnal Bitters (renamed so we can keep it through winter!)
This is a collaboration with my friend Nicole from Dancing Fern Folk Apothecary. She has made up several of our tea blends and I am excited to share this bitters blend with you! This was first launched in 2023 and was a HIT.
I asked her in the summer if she could formulate a seasonal bitters blend with herbs that resonated with her. I offered a suggestion (added dual-extracted reish!) and then processed the bitters in our shop! She came up with this beautiful blend of herbs and spices to celebrate autumn and the cozy season that follows.
The bitters are made with Reishi (dual-extracted), cardamom, orange peel, ginger, fresh burdock root, fresh yarrow, spring water, 100-proof vodka, and brandy!
Our American diet is severely lacking in bitter foods that are more common in other cultures! Bitters help signal to the liver to start preparing to digest food. Bitters can be taken before each meal to encourage and support healthy digestion, and help to ease stomachaches, gassy stomachs, or those having trouble with bloating after a meal.
To take, spray 1-3 sprays on your tongue and allow your mouth to fully taste the flavor. It is a pleasant bitter, with strong notes of cardamom and orange coming through.
This will be a seasonal product restocking until springtime, or as long as we have the fresh tincture ingredients.
